Accession

The legal principle by which the owner of property acquires title to additions or improvements made to that property, often when the additions become inseparably united with the original item. For example, if a person adds new parts to a car, those parts become part of the car and belong to the car's owner. The Uniform Commercial Code addresses accession in the context of secured transactions.
