Administrator pendente lite

A temporary administrator appointed by a court to manage a deceased person's estate during a period of litigation, such as a will contest or dispute over the appointment of a permanent executor. This individual's authority is limited to preserving the estate's assets and performing necessary administrative tasks until the legal dispute is resolved. Their powers cease once a permanent executor or administrator is appointed.
