Agent for service of process

A person or entity legally authorized to accept official court documents, including summonses, subpoenas, and other notices, on behalf of a defendant or other party in a lawsuit. This appointment facilitates the proper and timely notification of legal actions, which is a fundamental requirement for due process. Many states require corporations to maintain a registered agent for service of process within their jurisdiction.
