Captive audience

A group of people who are compelled to listen to or view a message, often without the ability to easily avoid it. In legal contexts, particularly related to free speech, the concept arises when individuals are in a setting where they cannot readily escape unwanted communication. Courts have sometimes limited speech in such situations to protect the privacy or autonomy of the audience.
