Causa mortis
Term · Law · MLC-T-LAW-000889
A gift made by a donor who believes death is imminent, and who delivers the property to the recipient at once on the condition that the donor dies from that peril. The gift is revocable before death, and it is revoked automatically if the donor survives or if the recipient dies first. It differs from a will, which transfers nothing until death and needs formal execution.
