Collyer doctrine

A principle in United States labor law where the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) defers to an agreed-upon arbitration process in collective bargaining agreements, rather than directly adjudicating unfair labor practice charges. This doctrine encourages the private resolution of disputes through contractual mechanisms. It applies when the dispute arises from the interpretation or application of the collective bargaining agreement.
