Confession of judgment
Term · Law · MLC-T-LAW-001174
A legal document signed by a debtor that permits a creditor to obtain a judgment against the debtor without the need for a lawsuit, typically upon the occurrence of a default. This allows the creditor to bypass the usual litigation process to secure a judgment. Many jurisdictions have restrictions or prohibitions on the use of confessions of judgment due to concerns about due process.
