Connivance

The act of secretly cooperating or being involved in an illegal or wrongful act, often by passively assenting to it. In family law, it historically referred to a spouse's consent to or encouragement of the other spouse's adultery, which could bar a divorce claim. It implies a degree of complicity or foreknowledge without direct participation.
