Cooling-off rule

A consumer protection regulation that grants buyers a specific period, typically three business days, to cancel certain types of sales contracts without penalty. This rule applies to transactions made in locations other than the seller's regular place of business, such as door-to-door sales or trade shows. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) enforces this rule in the United States.
