FTC franchise rule

A regulation promulgated by the Federal Trade Commission that requires franchisors to provide prospective franchisees with extensive disclosures about the franchise offering. This rule aims to protect potential franchisees from misrepresentation and unfair practices by requiring a Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD). The FDD must be provided at least 14 calendar days before any money is paid or an agreement is signed.
