Dismissal without prejudice

A termination of a legal action that allows the plaintiff to refile the same claim at a later time. This type of dismissal is not a judgment on the merits and does not bar future litigation of the same issues. It is often granted for procedural reasons, such as a technical defect in the complaint or a plaintiff's voluntary withdrawal before trial.
