Field sobriety test

A series of physical and mental exercises administered by law enforcement officers to assess a person's impairment due to alcohol or drugs. These tests, such as the horizontal gaze nystagmus, walk-and-turn, and one-leg stand, are used to gather evidence of probable cause for a driving under the influence (DUI) arrest. They are standardized by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
