Hot cargo clause

A provision in a collective bargaining agreement where an employer agrees not to handle or transport goods from another employer with whom the union has a dispute. Such clauses are generally prohibited under federal labor law, specifically the National Labor Relations Act, as they constitute secondary boycotts. There are limited exceptions for the construction industry.
