Integration

Term · Law · MLC-T-LAW-002673

A contract law doctrine holding that a written agreement, known as an integrated agreement, represents the final and complete expression of the parties' understanding. When a contract is deemed fully integrated, the parol evidence rule prevents the introduction of prior or contemporaneous oral or written statements to contradict or supplement the terms of the document. A merger clause within the contract is strong evidence that the parties intended the writing to be the complete and final agreement.
