Intervene

To become a party to a lawsuit or proceeding already in progress, by permission of the court. A non-party with a direct interest in the subject matter of the litigation may seek to join the existing parties to protect their rights. Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 24 governs intervention in federal courts.
