The moral and professional principles that govern the conduct of lawyers and judges in their professional capacities. These rules dictate duties such as client confidentiality, avoidance of conflicts of interest, competence, and zealous advocacy within the bounds of the law. State bar associations typically promulgate and enforce codes of legal ethics, such as the Model Rules of Professional Conduct.
