Lex fori

The law of the forum, referring to the law of the jurisdiction where a legal action is brought. This principle dictates that procedural matters in a case are governed by the law of the court hearing the case, even if the substantive issues are governed by the law of another jurisdiction. For example, rules of evidence and court procedure are determined by the lex fori.
