Maim

To inflict a severe injury on a person or animal that deprives them of the use of a limb or organ, or that permanently disfigures them. In criminal law, this act is often referred to as mayhem or aggravated assault, depending on the jurisdiction and the specific nature of the injury. The intent to cause such a permanent injury is a key element of the crime.
