Privilege against self-incrimination

A legal right protecting an individual from being compelled to provide testimony or evidence that could lead to their own criminal prosecution. This protection is enshrined in the Fifth Amendment to the United States Constitution, allowing a person to refuse to answer questions or produce documents in certain legal proceedings.
