Retraction

A formal withdrawal of a statement, accusation, or promise previously made. This act aims to correct a prior assertion, often due to its falsity or inaccuracy, or to mitigate potential harm caused by the original statement. In defamation law, a timely retraction can sometimes limit the amount of damages awarded.
