Sick leave

Term · Law · MLC-T-LAW-004548

Paid or unpaid time off from work granted to an employee due to illness, injury, or medical appointments. Many jurisdictions have laws mandating employers to provide a certain amount of sick leave, such as the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) at the federal level, which allows eligible employees to take unpaid, job-protected leave for specified family and medical reasons. Company policies often supplement or exceed these statutory requirements.
