Signature guarantee

A certification provided by a financial institution, such as a bank or brokerage firm, verifying the authenticity of a signature on a document. This guarantee protects against fraudulent transfers of securities and other assets. It assures the transfer agent that the signature is genuine and that the signer has the legal capacity to execute the transaction.
