Suspension of deportation

A former form of relief from deportation for certain non-citizens who had been present in the United States for a specified period, demonstrated good moral character, and whose deportation would result in extreme hardship. This discretionary relief allowed eligible individuals to remain in the country. It has largely been replaced by cancellation of removal under current immigration law.
