The unlawful use of violence and intimidation, especially against civilians, in the pursuit of political aims. It involves acts intended to cause death or serious bodily injury to civilians or non-combatants with the purpose of intimidating a population or compelling a government or international organization to do or abstain from doing any act. Federal law defines domestic terrorism as activities that involve acts dangerous to human life that are a violation of the criminal laws of the United States or of any State.
