Actinic
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-003264
Relating to electromagnetic radiation that is capable of causing photochemical reactions, particularly in the ultraviolet and visible light portions of the spectrum. In atmospheric chemistry, actinic radiation drives many chemical processes, such as the dissociation of ozone and the formation of free radicals. The intensity of actinic radiation varies with solar zenith angle and atmospheric composition.
