Bond energy
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-003975
The amount of energy required to break a specific chemical bond between two atoms in a molecule, or the energy released when that bond is formed. In atmospheric chemistry, bond energies determine the stability of molecules and the energy needed for chemical reactions, such as the dissociation of ozone by ultraviolet radiation. It is typically measured in kilojoules per mole.
