Carbon bond mechanism

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004158

A condensed chemical scheme used in atmospheric chemistry models to simulate the formation of ozone and other secondary air pollutants. It simplifies the complex reactions of numerous volatile organic compounds by grouping them based on the types of carbon bonds they contain, such as single bonds, double bonds, or aromatic rings. Different versions of the mechanism, like CBM-IV or CBM-Z, are used in air quality forecasting models.
