Aerodynamically rough surface
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-003335
A surface where the roughness elements are large enough to protrude through the viscous sublayer of the airflow, causing turbulence to be generated directly by these elements rather than by molecular viscosity. This condition leads to a logarithmic wind profile above the surface. The roughness length, a parameter characterizing the aerodynamic roughness, is typically greater than 0.1 millimeters for such surfaces.
