Aerostatic balance
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-003351
A device used to measure the density of a gas by comparing the buoyant force it exerts on a body of known volume with the buoyant force exerted by a reference gas. This instrument operates on the principle of Archimedes, where the apparent weight of an object is reduced by the weight of the fluid it displaces. It provides precise measurements of gas density.
