Artificial horizon

A device that provides an aircraft pilot with an artificial reference to the horizon, indicating the aircraft's pitch and roll relative to the Earth's surface. It is particularly useful during flight in conditions of poor visibility or at night when the natural horizon is obscured. This instrument typically uses gyroscopes to maintain its orientation.
