Autobarotropy

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-003715

The state of a fluid in which barotropy and piezotropy are both present and their coefficients are equal, an idealization used in theoretical work. Barotropy means that surfaces of constant pressure and constant density coincide, so the fluid has no solenoids to generate circulation. Autobarotropy is therefore a stricter requirement than barotropy alone.
