Babinet point

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-003762

A neutral point of skylight polarization located in the sky roughly 15 to 20 degrees above the sun, where the polarization of scattered light falls to zero. It is one of three commonly detected neutral points, with the Arago point near the antisolar point and the Brewster point below the sun. Named for Jacques Babinet, who found it in 1840, it is hard to observe because of solar glare.
