Beamwidth
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-003870
The angular width of a radar or lidar beam, defined as the angle between the half-power points of the main lobe of the antenna radiation pattern. It quantifies the spatial resolution of the instrument, indicating the extent over which the emitted energy is concentrated. A narrower beamwidth provides finer spatial detail in atmospheric measurements, such as precipitation or aerosol distributions.
