Biogenic trace gases
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-003919
Gaseous compounds present in the atmosphere in low concentrations that originate from biological sources, including microorganisms, plants, and animals. These gases, produced through processes like decomposition and metabolism, influence atmospheric chemistry and the Earth's radiation budget. Examples include methane from wetlands and livestock, nitrous oxide from soils, and dimethyl sulfide from marine phytoplankton.
