Buoyancy velocity

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004087

A characteristic velocity scale associated with the vertical motion driven by buoyancy forces in a fluid, often used in the context of turbulent plumes or convective boundary layers. It represents the speed at which buoyant elements rise or fall due to density differences with their surroundings. This velocity is proportional to the square root of the buoyancy flux and the height.
