Ozmidov scale
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-007772
A characteristic length scale in stratified fluids that describes the maximum vertical size of turbulent eddies before stratification suppresses their vertical motion. It represents the balance between buoyancy forces and inertial forces within a turbulent flow. This scale is calculated using the buoyancy frequency and the rate of turbulent kinetic energy dissipation.
