Dissipation length scale
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005065
The length scale at which viscosity dissipates turbulent kinetic energy, represented by the Kolmogorov scale, equal to the one-quarter power of kinematic viscosity cubed divided by the dissipation rate. It marks the smallest eddies in a turbulent flow, and relative to the large scales it shrinks in proportion to the Reynolds number raised to the power minus three quarters. In the atmospheric boundary layer it is typically about a millimeter.
