Kolmogorov microscale
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006803
The smallest length scale in turbulent fluid flow, below which viscous forces dominate and turbulent kinetic energy is dissipated into heat. It is derived from the kinematic viscosity and the rate of turbulent energy dissipation. These scales are typically on the order of millimeters or less in the atmosphere.
