Viscous subrange
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-010033
The smallest scale range within a turbulent flow where viscous forces dominate over inertial forces, leading to the dissipation of kinetic energy into heat. In this subrange, the Kolmogorov microscale defines the characteristic length scale. Energy is transferred from larger eddies down to these scales where it is ultimately dissipated.
