Inertial-diffusive subrange
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006530
A range of scales in turbulent flow where the transport of scalar quantities, such as temperature or humidity, is governed by both inertial effects and molecular diffusion. At these very small scales, the turbulent eddies are no longer able to efficiently mix the scalar, and molecular processes become dominant. This subrange exists at scales smaller than the inertial-convective subrange.
