Inertial subrange
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006527
A specific portion of the inertial range in turbulent flows where the energy cascade from large to small scales is dominant, and viscous dissipation is negligible. In this subrange, the kinetic energy spectrum typically follows the Kolmogorov -5/3 power law. It is characterized by a balance between inertial forces and the transfer of energy across different eddy sizes.
