Spectral gap

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009100

A range of wavelengths or frequencies within the electromagnetic spectrum where there is little to no atmospheric absorption or emission. These regions allow for the transmission of radiation through the atmosphere with minimal attenuation. Satellite remote sensing instruments often target these spectral gaps to observe Earth's surface or atmospheric properties from space.
