Spectral hygrometer
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009101
An instrument that determines the amount of water vapor in the atmosphere by measuring the absorption of electromagnetic radiation at specific wavelengths. It operates by passing a beam of light through an air sample and detecting how much energy is absorbed by water vapor molecules, a quantity proportional to the water vapor concentration. Spectral hygrometers are known for their high accuracy and fast response times, making them suitable for research applications like eddy covariance measurements.
