Inertial-convective subrange
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006529
A region within the atmospheric boundary layer where turbulent kinetic energy is primarily transferred from larger to smaller eddies through inertial forces, while buoyancy forces also contribute to the energy cascade. This subrange exists at scales larger than the inertial subrange but smaller than the energy-containing range. It is characterized by a spectral slope that deviates from the classic Kolmogorov -5/3 power law due to the influence of buoyancy.
