Kolmogorov scale
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006804
A set of characteristic length, time, and velocity scales that describe the smallest eddies in fully developed turbulent flow, where viscous dissipation becomes dominant. These scales are derived from the kinematic viscosity and the rate of turbulent kinetic energy dissipation. The Kolmogorov length scale is typically on the order of millimeters in the atmospheric boundary layer.
