Taylor microscale
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009504
A characteristic length scale in turbulent fluid flow that represents the average size of the smallest eddies responsible for the dissipation of kinetic energy into heat. It is an intermediate scale between the large energy-containing eddies and the Kolmogorov microscale. This parameter is derived from the mean square of the velocity gradients.
