Taylor number
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009505
A dimensionless quantity that characterizes the ratio of Coriolis forces to viscous forces in a rotating fluid. It indicates the relative strength of rotational effects compared to internal friction within the fluid. A high Taylor number suggests that rotation strongly influences the flow, leading to phenomena such as Taylor columns in geophysical fluid dynamics.
