Oyashio

A cold subarctic ocean current that flows southward along the eastern coast of Kamchatka and the Kuril Islands, eventually meeting the Kuroshio Current off the coast of Japan. This current transports cold, nutrient-rich water from the Bering Sea into the North Pacific. Its interaction with the warmer Kuroshio Current creates areas of high biological productivity and often dense fog.
