Kuroshio countercurrent

A current that flows in the direction opposite to the adjacent Kuroshio, found along its flanks in the western North Pacific, for example in the recirculation south of Japan and on the inshore side of the Kuroshio along the Ryukyu Islands and the East China Sea slope. It is much weaker than the Kuroshio, whose core flows northeastward at about 1 m/s or more.
