California method
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004112
A technique for forecasting the likelihood of precipitation, developed for use in California during its dry summer season. It relies on empirical relationships between the observed height of the 700-millibar pressure surface and the probability of measurable rainfall. This statistical method provides a simple, objective forecast based on a single upper-air measurement.
